Dirt Layer
  • 18 ounces Chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos) Finely crushed
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
Pudding Layer
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) Instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups Milk Cold
Garnish
  • 1 package (3 ounces) Gummy worms
  • 1 cup Green sandwich cookies Crushed (optional)

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Crush chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs. You can use a food processor or a zip-top bag and a rolling pin.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the crushed cookies, cocoa powder, milk, and vegetable oil. Mix until a moist, crumbly mixture forms. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and creamy. Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  4. Layer the pudding and “dirt” mixture in individual serving glasses or a large trifle bowl, starting and ending with a layer of dirt.
  5. Gently press gummy worms into the top layer of dirt.
  6. If desired, sprinkle crushed green cookies around the edges to resemble grass.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the pudding to set.

Notes

For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate sandwich cookies. You can also add other Halloween candies to the dirt layer, such as chocolate chips or sprinkles.
