Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Reserve about 1 cup of the mixture for the topping, then press the remaining dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Spread the fruit preserves evenly over the layer of dough in the pan.
- Crumble the reserved dough over the top of the fruit preserves to create a crumbly topping.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before cutting into bars.
Notes
Feel free to use different fruit preserves to customize the flavor of your bars.
