Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, ground almonds, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure that all dry ingredients are evenly combined.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the honey until it becomes liquid but not boiling. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Pour the warm honey into the dry ingredients mixture and stir until a dough forms. It should be somewhat sticky but manageable.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate, dried figs, candied orange peel, chopped walnuts, and raisins to the dough. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a rectangular block, approximately 1 inch thick.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired. Cut into slices or squares to serve.
