  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Dried figs, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Candied orange peel, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Raisins
  • Powdered sugar for dusting optional

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, ground almonds, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure that all dry ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the honey until it becomes liquid but not boiling. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  4. Pour the warm honey into the dry ingredients mixture and stir until a dough forms. It should be somewhat sticky but manageable.
  5. Add the chopped dark chocolate, dried figs, candied orange peel, chopped walnuts, and raisins to the dough. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a rectangular block, approximately 1 inch thick.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired. Cut into slices or squares to serve.
