Mac and Cheese Ingredients
  • 4 cups Cooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
Sandwich Ingredients
  • 4 slices Bread, Sliced Use your favorite bread. Texas toast works well!
  • 4 tablespoons Butter For spreading on bread

  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat large skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  3. Spread a generous amount of butter on one side of each bread slice.
  4. Place two bread slices, butter-side down, in the preheated skillet. Top each with half of the mac and cheese mixture.
  5. Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  6. Grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Use a spatula to gently press down on the sandwiches while grilling to ensure even cooking.
  7. Remove from skillet and cut in half. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the mac and cheese mixture. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as Gruyere or Monterey Jack.
