- Preheat large skillet over medium heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
- Spread a generous amount of butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place two bread slices, butter-side down, in the preheated skillet. Top each with half of the mac and cheese mixture.
- Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Use a spatula to gently press down on the sandwiches while grilling to ensure even cooking.
- Remove from skillet and cut in half. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the mac and cheese mixture. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as Gruyere or Monterey Jack.
