Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large pieces Fresh Ginger about 4 inches long
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional)
  • 1 pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup Water

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth

Method

Instructions
  1. Start by peeling the ginger using a vegetable peeler or the edge of a spoon. Cut the ginger into small pieces to make blending easier.
  2. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and set it aside.
  3. In a blender, combine the ginger pieces and water. Blend on high speed until the ginger is finely pureed and well combined with the water.
  4. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a bowl or measuring cup. Pour the ginger puree through the strainer to extract the juice, pressing down with a spoon to get as much liquid as possible.
  5. Once you have the ginger juice, mix in the fresh lemon juice and honey (if using) until well combined.
  6. For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper and stir well.
  7. Pour the ginger shots into small shot glasses or a sealed container for storage.
  8. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to one week. Shake well before consuming.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or omit it for a sugar-free version.
