  • 1 pound Pasta Fettuccine or bucatini recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes One can
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground, or to taste
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil Chopped, for garnish (optional)

  • Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  • While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Add a little pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  • Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil (optional).

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality olive oil and Parmesan cheese. Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the sauce. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
