Apple Filling

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples Peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg

Crisp Topping

  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup Packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Cold, cut into small pieces

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple filling.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional).

Notes

For a crispier topping, use less brown sugar and more oats. You can also add a sprinkle of chopped nuts to the topping for extra flavor and texture. Feel free to experiment with different apple varieties for a unique taste.
