Here is a delicious twist from the standard pizza recipe. An easy slider recipe that can be made as an appetizer or a meal. Even the kids love these sliders.
Wait until you try these amazing pizza sliders! Packed with pepperoni and sausage, these easy to make pizza sliders are great for dinner, an afternoon snack, or for game day.
I love making pizza sliders. These sliders are incredibly easy to throw together and everyone loves them. I have made them for a simple weeknight dinner, when we are having guests to watch the game, and for movie night. No matter when we have these delicious sliders, on thing is for sure, everyone loves them.
What Kind of Rolls are Best for Sliders
Hawaiian sweet rolls are a great roll to use for this slider recipe. I love the way these rolls taste when combined with the pepperoni, sausage and cheese. Also, they are soft and sweet and bake up nicely.
Why is the Pepperoni Baked First on Pepperoni Pizza Sliders
The reason why the slices of pepperoni are baked first is because they get a crispy texture. Baking the pepperoni first gives it the same texture it gets when pepperoni is cooked on top of a pizza. Since these sliders are covered, if the pepperoni isn’t cooked first, they do not get the crispiness.
Variations to Pepperoni Sausage Pizza Sliders
There are so many easy ways to make variations to these pepperoni sausage sliders. Some of my favorite pizza toppings ideas are:
- Turkey pepperoni instead of pork
- Hot sausage instead of sweet
- Cheddar cheese
- Ground beef
- Chicken and ranch
- Bacon
How to Reheat Pizza Sliders
If you have leftovers of these pizza sliders, you want to store them in the refrigerator. When you are ready to reheat the pizza sliders, you want to make sure to reheat them in the oven. While you could reheat them in the microwave, this tends to make the rolls too hard to eat in some places and soggy in another. When you heat them in the oven, the rolls stay delicious. I would recommend wrapping them in foil and bake to prevent the rolls from getting too toasted.
How Long do these Sausage Sliders Last
If you have leftovers of these sausage sliders, you can store them in the refrigerator for about 3 days. The sliders are safe to eat for about 5 days, but after 3 days, the rolls are not as tasty as they are the first few days.
Can Pepperoni Pizza Sliders Be made Ahead
When I am making these pepperoni pizza sliders for a crowd or when we are having a party, I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen when everyone is having fun. However, you do not want to bake these pepperoni sliders too early before you are ready to eat them. If you want to save time and make these pepperoni sliders ahead of time, you can assemble the sliders up to the point of putting them in the oven. Wait until you are ready to serve the sliders before baking them. Bake the sliders and then serve to your guests.
