What’s the difference between panko and breadcrumbs?
Panko breadcrumbs are perfect when you want the best crunch on your food. Panko breadcrumbs is a Japanese style crumb. The bread that is used to make panko crumbs are more airy flakes that are larger than traditional breadcrumbs. The crumbs stay crispier longer because it does not absorb as much fat.
Can I use breadcrumbs instead of panko?
You can use regular breadcrumbs instead of panko if that is all you have on hand. I prefer panko but, in a pinch, breadcrumbs will work. However, the breadcrumbs will not be as crispy.
How to Properly Cut Jalapeno Peppers
When you are cutting these jalapenos, you want to be careful that you are cutting the jalapenos correctly. You want to slice the jalapenos into thin strips. You can leave the ribs and seeds if you want to have that extra spice or if you want to reduce the spice remove them. When you cut the pepper (I usually always wear gloves), you want to make sure to wash your hands well with soap afterwards. If you touch your eyes or nose, this is going to burn.
How to Store These Fries
If you have leftover crispy jalapeno fries, store them in the refrigerator. Keep them in an airtight container. Make sure the fries are cooled before placing them in the container because if they are still warm, there will be condensation, and this will make the fries lose their crispiness.
Can I Reheat the Jalapeno Fries
When you are reheating the fries, you want to do so in the oven, toaster oven or in an Air Fryer. You can also refry them but be careful not to burn the coating. If you reheat the fries in the microwave, you will not love the texture. The fries will be mushy and tough. For the best tasting leftover, heat them in the oven of in the air fryer.
How to Freeze Crispy Jalapeno Fries
If you want to freeze these jalapeno fries, you will want to store it in an airtight container or a freezer bag. The fries will last for about 3 months in the freezer. You can reheat the fries from frozen in the oven. They will take a little longer to cook than if they were coming from the refrigerator or from room temperature.
What Kind of Dipping Sauce Should I use with Jalapeno Fries?
There are a lot of different types of dips that can be used with these fries, but the go to that most people will enjoy that is easy to grab is a basic ranch dressing and or blue cheese. You can also use your personal favorite dip, as well.
