Chewy Brownie Bites

When it comes to brownies, we all know that the texture matters just as much as the taste. These Chewy Brownie Bites have an undeniable chocolate flavor with a sweet topping that literally gives the perfect “chew” with each and every bite. These mini brownies are the perfect dessert that you can grab and snack on, while you’re walking out the front door.

Baking up a batch of these tiny treats is a simple task that hardly takes any time at all. And rest easy knowing that just because they’re tiny in size doesn’t mean that they aren’t huge in taste and flavor!

What other types of nuts can you use in this brownie recipe?

This is the great part about using nuts in baking. Most nuts taste really great, no matter what type of flavor of batter you’re mixing them into. Walnuts are what this recipe calls for but you can also use pecans, cashews, and slivered almonds as well. And if you wanted to use peanuts, you could do that too but be certain that they’re unsalted or you’re going to taste a difference!

Other great options are to add chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips into the batter to change up the flavor as well.

How do you know when these mini chewy brownies are done baking in the oven?

Just because they’re chewy doesn’t mean that you can’t get a good gauge on when they’re done baking. The easiest way to ensure that they’re cooked thoroughly and ready to pull from the oven is to rely on the good ol’ toothpick test.

Grab a clean toothpick and insert it into the middle of one of the brownie bites. If it comes out clean, remove them all from the oven and let them cool. However, if it comes out with batter on it, those adorable mini brownies are going to need a few more minutes to cook.

Why is my frosting so thin?

More than likely, you’ve just added too much liquid to your homemade frosting when mixing. Don’t worry, it’s an easy fix. If you find that you’re frosting is too thin, just add in some more powdered sugar and stir to offset and make it thicker. Do so in small spurts and stir completely each time.

This will help to thicken it back up so that it’s stiff and will hold peaks on top of the brownie bites. (The same thought process can be used if it’s too thick, too. Just add a little more cream slowly and stir to help thin it out.)

Simple Tips For Making These Chewy Brownie Bites

Even though this recipe is quite simple, there are a couple of tips to keep in mind!

  • Make certain that the brownie bites are cooled completely before you attempt to frost them. If you try to frost the brownies too soon while they’re still hot or warm, there’s a very high chance that the frosting won’t stick or will even just slide right off the top.
  • You can make the brownie batter ahead of time and bake them later. Find yourself in a hurry and don’t have a ton of time to bake? This is why this recipe is great! You can easily make up the brownie batter and store it in the fridge for the day until you have time later to pop them in the oven to bake. Consider this a simple meal-prepping tip that a lot of bakers actually use!
